A PROVEN PATHWAY TO THE TOP

With the recent AFLW opportunities earned by Natasha Entwistle, Renee Morgan, Poppy Stockwell and now Madison Evans, South Fremantle continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Western Australia’s premier pathways to the AFLW.

Each AFLW journey has been different, but South Fremantle has remained a constant throughout. Natasha Entwistle and Madison Evans arrived at the Bulldogs from East Fremantle before earning AFLW opportunities. Poppy Stockwell also developed through South Fremantle’s junior program, was drafted by Fremantle and after returning to WAFLW football with Perth, has now earned a second AFLW opportunity with Hawthorn.

Together with a host of homegrown Bulldogs who have progressed naturally to the draft through WA’s strong talent pathways (Renee Morgan, Molly O’Hehir), South Fremantle have helped produce an extraordinary list of AFLW talent:

From established stars like Mim Strom, who has become one of the AFLW‘s premier rucks, to recent pickups such as Madison Evans and Natasha Entwistle, South Fremantle has consistently identified, developed and prepared players to thrive at the highest level.

South Fremantle has become a destination club for ambitious footballers from across Western Australia and interstate with genuine football aspirations. Players choose the Bulldogs because they know they will be challenged, supported and developed in an environment with a proven record of producing elite talent.

That reputation has been built through strong investment in people. Dedicated coaches, high-performance staff, volunteers and the entire football department have created a program where player development is at the centre of everything the club does. The focus extends beyond developing footballers, it’s about building resilient, professional athletes capable of succeeding at the next level.

Manager, Female Football Sean Pollard said  “Behind every AFLW opportunity is an enormous amount of work from our coaches, high-performance staff, medical team, volunteers and football department. Everyone is committed to creating an environment where players can develop, improve and give themselves the best possible chance to reach the AFLW.

“What makes me most proud is the culture we’ve built. Players come to South Fremantle because they know they’ll be challenged, supported and surrounded by people who genuinely care about their development, both on and off the field.”

While farewelling players to the AFLW is always bittersweet, given the impact they have on our program, it is also one of the club’s greatest measures of success, and one of our core ambitions. Seeing Bulldogs achieve their AFLW dreams is exactly what this program is designed to do.
