RD 13 WAFLW PREVIEW | v PERTH

South Fremantle will take on Perth at Mineral Resources Park this Saturday evening in Round 13 of the WAFLW season looking to try and break into the top four in the process.

It shapes as a crucial match in the context of the season for both teams as well at the Lathlain venue which will get underway at 5pm on Saturday evening.

South Fremantle lost to the league-leading Swan Districts last Sunday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval while Perth had a big win at home to Peel Thunder on Saturday.

That means that coming into the Round 13 clash and it’s Perth sitting in fourth position with a 5-4 record to be just percentage ahead of the 5-5 South Fremantle with both teams also having a draw which happened to come against one another.

So the winner of Saturday night’s clash will finish the round in fourth position and take a step towards playing finals in the WAFLW in 2026.

The teams met already earlier this season back in Round 3 at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and on that occasion it was a draw between the Bulldogs and Demons with both sides finishing on 8.7 (55).

In that match up, Shannyn Pomersbach kicked three goals for South Fremantle with Madi Hadley adding two and Makaela Tuhakaraina two.

Tash Entwistle also picked up 23 possessions, Brianna Cleggett 19, Mikayla Hyde 19 and Madi Hadley 14, Ash Gomes 14.

On the Perth side of things, Poppy Stockwell and Gemma Dix kicked two goals apiece while Isabella Shannon collected 31 possessions, Holly Britton 20, Isla Baldwin 19, Amy Trindale 17, Mia Carlhausen 15 and Caitlyn Edwards 15.

South Fremantle are trying to bounce back in the WAFLW from that loss last week to Swan Districts and to take on Perth on Saturday evening, there’s just one change to the team with Alexis Edgley coming in and Jasmine Bazeley going out.

That leaves Bazeley, Tashuana Munn, Pippa Sideris and Jessica Skinner as the emergencies for the Bulldogs.

Perth are coming off beating Peel last Saturday and from that team, Mel Grace, Addison Opalinski and Amy Trindale are into the team to face South Fremantle this Saturday night.

Going out for the Demons are Ivy Harding, Amber Wyatt and Kailey Secomb.

The Round 13 Rogers Cup match up between South Fremantle and Perth at Mineral Resources Park will take place on Sunday morning starting at 11am.

The Bulldogs are fresh off a loss last Sunday morning to Swan Districts at Fremantle Community Bank Oval by 24 points which leaves them now sitting in seventh position with a 3-8 record coming into Round 13.

The Demons had a big win last Saturday at home to Peel Thunder by 66 points which improves them to a 5-5 record to sit in fifth position as a result.

The two teams have already played one another this season back in Round 3 at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and that saw Perth beat South Fremantle 11.6 (72) to 3.1 (19).

On that day, South Fremantle’s goals were kicked by Khesan Starr, Gracie-Lee Briggs and Mackenzie Chapple.
