HOMETOWN: WHITEY & THE BOYS VISIT WILLIAMS

Author: South Fremantle Football Club

The South Fremantle Football Club Senior Men’s Squad held their pre-season camp in Williams over the weekend, further preparing for the forthcoming season.

Williams, the hometown of new League Coach and two-time Premiership Player Craig White, was selected as a feature of the Club’s policy of locating annual pre-season camps in towns of our regional zones.

The players and coaching staff travelled together, spending the drive working on a few tasks set by Senior Assistant Chris Mayne and Head of Development Brad Maney. The squad were placed into six teams and had various challenges across the weekend which provided an opportunity for players to share time with one another and build relationships with new recruits and Colts graduates.

Match simulation would be the significant component of on-field training, and a real highlight for the local fans looking on at Williams Town Oval where the squad played four 15-minute quarters.

Several new faces in 2025 contributing well and building excitement for Round 1 included Cooper Clarke-Dehring who was impressive up forward and looked like he would mark everything that came his way.

Trey Ruscoe and Ethan Hughes showed how valuable they will be on and off-field this season and Tyson Headland grabbed the opportunity with both hands to play some midfield minutes. Off-field, the group worked on leadership, culture, goal setting and other team bonding activities before getting into a BBQ dinner put on by the Williams Football Club.

Head of Football Charlie Burke felt the Camp was a resounding success and praised all the players and staff for their approach and attitude.

“The Camp was a great way for the team to come together, build unity, and further set the foundations for a strong season for the Bulldogs”

“Everyone committed themselves fully to the experience, and proved great ambassadors for our footy Club in our country zone” Burke said.

South Fremantle thanks the Williams Football Club for hosting our program, along with the following partners who made the Camp achievable:
