RD 7 PREVIEW | v SUBIACO

Author: South Fremantle Football Club

SOUTH Fremantle is now the hottest team in the WAFL this season heading into Saturday’s match up with Subiaco leading into the State game break.

The Bulldogs head to Leederville’s Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday now on a four-game winning streak to be the most in-form team in the WAFL coming into Round 7.

It’s the last round of action before next weekend’s State game against South Australia at Optus Stadium as well so South Fremantle would like nothing more than to go into the week off with a five-game winning streak.

South Fremantle will also be playing in honour of, and wearing black armbands in tribute to former player Cam McCarthy who tragically passed away late this week.

South Fremantle takes on a Subiaco team currently sitting in sixth position on the WAFL ladder with a 2-3 record and looking to bounce back from losing its past two matches to Claremont and East Fremantle.

South Fremantle is looking for a fifth straight win and coming off the win against Perth last week, there’s just the one change with Matthew Parker back into the line-up at the expense of Connor McDonald.

Subiaco lost to East Fremantle last week and from that team for the Lions, Jordan Faraone, Kyron Hayden, Campbell Henderson, Luke Kentfield, Rylie Morgan and Taj Schofield come into the side to take on the Bulldogs.

Going out for Subiaco is Connor Faraone, Jaimon Alone, Jordan Lockyer, Ky Franceschini, Jack Mayo and Ben Golding.

South Fremantle defender Jordan Boullineau has been taking on all the big defensive jobs this season with Noah Strom moving forward, and against Subiaco that leaves him one of Ben Sokol or Ryan Borchet to get the job on.

“Lucky for me I’ve got a whole week to dwell on the fact and get ready to be playing on one of their big blokes, but we’re looking forward to it,” Boullineau said.

“They’ve got a few bigger boys in their forward-line so hopefully we might even get Mr Strom down back again to help us out. But we’re looking forward to the game.”

With the earlier start for the league fixture on Saturday, the day’s action at Sullivan Logistics Stadium will begin with the reserves match up between South Fremantle and Subiaco from 8.30am.

South Fremantle’s reserves are coming off a thumping 46-point win against Perth last week which sees the Bulldogs come into Round 7 with three wins from four games to sit in third position.

South Fremantle take on a Lions team having won three of five reserves games to date in 2024 to sit just behind in fourth spot.

The Bulldogs colts opened their account for the 2024 season last week with the 29-point win against Perth ahead of taking on Subiaco after the league game on start with the game getting underway at 4pm.
