WAFLW – BULLDOGS WIN AGAIN TO GO 3-0

South Fremantle continued their winning start to the WAFLW season with a 15-point victory on the back of the only two goals of the last quarter against Peel Thunder on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were back home at Fremantle Community Bank Oval full of confidence for the Round 3 match up on the back of first up wins to start the WAFLW season under new coach Pia Faletti against East Fremantle and Perth.

Peel did kick the only two goals of the first quarter, but South Fremantle kicked five goals to one the rest of the way for the 5.8 (38) to 3.5 (23) victory to improve to a perfect 3-0 record to start the season.

It was all single goal scorers for the Bulldogs in the win with Madizen Wilkins, Hannah Burt, Tara Stribley, Zoe Huggett and Tahlea Mulder all kicking one apiece.

Along with kicking a goal, it was a best on ground performance from Mulder with the Fremantle Dockers AFLW player also racking up 34 possessions to go with seven tackles, five marks and four entries inside the forward 50.

Alyssa Smogavec was another strong performer in the win for South Fremantle with 22 possessions, five marks and five tackles with Holly Ifould delivering 22 disposals and 10 marks.

Hunter Cronin also racked up 17 touches for the Bulldogs, Lauren Vecchio 16 (six tackles, five marks), Wilkins 13, Poppy Stockwell 13, Ella Matthews 13 and Melinda Bobby 13.

The Rogers Cup fixture for Round 3 was also at Fremantle Community Bank Oval but played on Sunday morning with South Fremantle scoring the 7.11 (53) to 4.3 (27) victory against Peel Thunder.

It was a goal apiece in the first quarter before the Bulldogs kicked two goals to one in the second stanza to be leading by 11 points at half-time.

It was then one goal each in the third term but South Fremantle kicked away to finish the game with three goals to one on the way to the 26-point win to complete the winning weekend.

Ava Ritchie kicked three goals for the Bulldogs with one each to Khesan Starr, Ayvah Rioli, Ava Hutchinson and Zarlya Yarran.
