South Fremantle lost its WAFLW clash at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday but were part of history with Perth winning its first game in the competition.

The Bulldogs came into the Round 11 match up at Fremantle Community Bank Oval needing a win to finish the weekend back inside the top four as they played host to the Demons.

Perth are in their first ever WAFLW season and were yet to win, but that soon changed on Sunday afternoon with the Demons becoming the first team to claim a victory in their inaugural season in the competition.

Perth scored the 5.4 (34) to 3.4 (22) victory with South Fremantle still sitting in fifth position with a 5-5 record but remain just percentage behind the fourth placed West Perth.

South Fremantle’s goals were kicked by Madison Hadley, Zoe Huggett and Annalie Polimeno.

South Fremantle came into the game looking to ensure Perth didn’t score a first win in the WAFLW competition and the Bulldogs kicked the first goal courtesy of Annalie Polimeno inside the first three minutes.

Perth responded with the last two goals of the opening quarter and also kicked the first goal of the second term to open up a 10-point lead, but South Fremantle had that back to just three points by half-time with a goal from Zoe Huggett.

The Demons also kicked the first goal of the second half but the Bulldogs did answer through Madison Hadley and it was still just a four-point lead for Perth at three quarter-time.

The Demons were able to complete the job on their first ever WAFLW win, though, with the only goal of the last quarter to win by 12 points.

Sunday’s action got underway at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with the Rogers Cup match up and it was Perth winning a thriller over South Fremantle 8.6 (54) to 8.3 (51).

After both teams kicked two goals each in the first quarter, South Fremantle piled on four goals to two in the second term to end up leading by 13 points at half-time.

The Demons then kicked three goals to one in the third quarter and then it was a goal each in the final stanza before Perth ended up winning a tight battle over the Bulldogs by three points.

The result leaves South Fremantle in fifth position on the Rogers Cup ladder with four wins, five losses and a draw to be just half a game behind the fourth placed Claremont.
