BLOCKBUSTER RIVALRY MATCH ANNOUNCED FOR JULY 18
The South Fremantle Football Club are thrilled by today’s announcement that the 2020 Optus Premiership Season has been brought forward to commence on Saturday July 18.
This is a significant result for football in WA, allowing Souths fans in our 120th celebration year to attend their beloved WAFL football in large and vocal number.
In an additional triumph for Bulldog fans, the opening round will see South Fremantle host East Fremantle in a traditional Fremantle Derby match, which will also be 2017 Sandover Medallist Haiden Schloithe’s 150th game, becoming eligible for coveted Life Membership.
Club CEO Cameron Britt welcomed the news on behalf of the Club, detailing the great opportunity that fans now have to consume WAFL football from July 18.
“The return to football with crowds has been a very complex and delicate matter for all parties, and to this end I thank the WA State Government and the West Australian Football Commission for their support in ensuring that WAFL Clubs can return to play with fans in 2020” Britt said.
“We have been determined since the postponement to welcome back our loyal and passionate fanbase, and this outcome enables us to do that, in a really compelling way, with no bigger occasion than an opening round clash against our traditional rivals the Sharks” Britt concluded.
The South Fremantle Football Club takes the opportunity to thank all members and commercial partners for their unconditional support and commitment in 2020.
It’s now the time to pay everyone back.
Stay tuned for further season updates across all Bulldog communication channels.
