RD 5 WAFLW PREVIEW | v WEST PERTH

South Fremantle have the early start on Sunday morning taking on West Perth in Round 5 of the WAFLW season at HIF Health Insurance Oval attempting to return to the winner’s list in the process.

It’s a big day for South Fremantle against West Perth on Sunday at the Joondalup venue to commemorate Anzac Day.

With the Reserves, League and Colts men’s games to follow, it’s the WAFLW contest that begins the day at HIF Health Insurance Oval with the Bulldogs taking on the Falcons with the game getting underway at 9:15am.

South Fremantle come into the Round 5 contest coming off a strong showing last week at Fremantle Community Bank Oval against the premiers of the last two years, Claremont, before ending up losing by 23 points.

That has the Bulldogs with a win, a draw and two losses from the opening four rounds of the season coming into the Round 5 match up on Sunday morning.

West Perth also went down to the undefeated Swan Districts last Saturday by just six points at Steel Blue Oval with the Falcons having one win and two losses from their opening three games of the 2026 WAFLW season.

The Rogers Cup match up will take place at HIF Health Insurance Oval in Joondalup on Friday evening with South Fremantle taking on West Perth with the game getting underway at 6:30pm.

South Fremantle went down at home to Claremont last Sunday by 10 points with the Bulldogs now having lost all four of their matches to start the Rogers Cup season.

From that team that lost to the Tigers last week, Gracie-Lee Briggs, Alexis Edgley, Hannah Floyd and Olivia Henderson come into the line-up to take on West Perth on Friday.

Going out for the Bulldogs are Tori Groth, Alyssa Henderson, Maddison Catley and Belle Cattalini.

West Perth went down to Swan Districts last Friday night in the Rogers Cup by 36 points to also be winless to date in 2026 on the back of winning the last three Rogers Cup premierships.

Coming into the team for the Friday night clash at the Falcons are Jasmine Giles, Samantha Martland, Vienna Matera, Amber McKeon, Ella Molloy-Broughton, Indie Scott and Trista Smoker.

Going out for West Perth are Amity Spencer, Nevaeh Arthur, Amber Stickles, Mia Smith, Harper Lassock, Isla Naughton and Teah Houlihan.
