WAFLW | SOUTHS GO DOWN TO SWANS
South Fremantle couldn’t quite stick with the WAFLW leading Swan Districts at home on Sunday with the eventual 69-point defeat at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
It always shaped as a significant test for the Bulldogs up against the top placed Swans, and then even more so with Swan Districts kicking the only four goals of the first quarter, and nine goals to one in the opening half.
That put Swans on the path to beating South Fremantle 16.5 (101) to 5.2 (32) in the finish with the Bulldogs now sitting in fifth position still on the WAFLW ladder with five wins, five losses and a draw by the end of Round 12.

Madi Evans also collected 19 possessions for the Bulldogs with Tahleah Mulder finishing with 19 touches, Ash Gomes 17, Makaela Tuhakaraina 17, Hunter Cronin 16 and Charlie Vandenberg 12 to go with 12 hit outs and three marks.
Swan Districts made a flying start to the two with Ash Sharp kicking two early goals on the same oval she played home matches with back in her time in the AFLW with the Fremantle Dockers.
Swans then also closed the opening term with goals to Emma Nanut and Taylah Edwards to be leading by 25 points at quarter-time.
Sharp kicked her third goal inside the opening minute of the second quarter and Keira Fawcett soon added another before South Fremantle got on the board thanks to Makaela Tuhakaraina.
The Swans answered with goals to Grace Hirst, Chloe Reilly and then again Fawcett before half-time where they went into the break with the 49-point advantage.
South Fremantle did start well with the first two goals of the second half from Annalie Polimeno and Madi Hadley only for Swans to respond courtesy of Emma Nanut and with a second to Reilly.
The teams traded goals before three quarter-time through Shannyn Pomersbach and Fawcett with Swan Districts going into three quarter-time leading by 49 points.
Polimeno then kicked a second to start the last quarter but from there Swans kicked the game’s last four goals with two more to Reilly, a fourth to Fawcett and another to Summer Yarran for the 69-point victory.
The Rogers Cup contest got proceedings underway at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday morning and it was Swan Districts ending up scoring the 6.6 (42) to 2.6 (18) victory against South Fremantle.
The result leaves South Fremantle in seventh position in the Rogers Cup with a 3-8 record by the end of Round 12.
