SOUTH STRENGTHENS TIES WITH GASCOYNE FOOTY

South Fremantle Football Club was proud to support the Gascoyne Football Association (GFA) Grand Final in Exmouth over last weekend, with a strong crowd turning out for a fantastic day of community football.

Hosted by Exmouth Eagles Football Club, the Grand Final showcased the passion for football throughout the region, with competitive Colts, Women’s and League matches highlighting the day.

The Colts and Women’s matches were both closely contested, with post-game awards provided by South Fremantle to recognise some of the standout performers.

The weekend also provided an opportunity to connect with representatives from Exmouth’s junior football program and discuss potential pathways for talented young players in the region.

The League Grand Final capped off the day, with the Exmouth Eagles defeating the Carnarvon Ramblers by approximately four goals after scores were level at three-quarter time.

The weekend was another great reminder of the passion that exists for football throughout regional Western Australia. Despite the challenges of operating a three-team competition, there remains a strong commitment from those involved to ensuring football continues to thrive throughout the Gascoyne.

Exmouth’s impressive football facilities were another highlight of the visit. Following Cyclone Neville, the venue has benefited from new lighting and an electronic scoreboard through government grants and insurance, complementing an outstanding playing surface.

There are also plans progressing for a new clubhouse and function centre, which would further enhance the precinct and its ability to host major football events.
