A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Author: South Fremantle Football Club

To all our valued members, partners and stakeholders,

It has been some time since I last wrote to you, preferring to allow our football teams to finally do some talking, since the commencement of this abbreviated 2020 season.

This COVID-19 impacted year has been truly unique and combined with the fact that it is also our Club’s 120th milestone year, it will forever be memorable.

We know that our Club is resilient and will never give up, and this has driven us forward to the solid position we find ourselves in, on and off the field.

Our Men’s League side currently sits 4-0 and atop the WAFL ladder. Whilst we proudly recognise and celebrate a job done well to date, we understand that our most important work remains ahead in September and, we hope, October.

Our Women’s League side are learning and growing in this their first foray, into League competition Women’s football. There are challenges each week, but their determination and persistence to grow and improve is obvious and is tremendous to observe, making the outlook bright.

Arguably though, the most remarkable South story from this very unusual year is the support, loyalty and commitment from our Commercial Partners and Members – our Fan Family.

We have retained every Commercial Partner, and our Club Membership sits at a 20-year record, with 660 more members right now (2086) than when we completed last season (1426), inclusive of our Grand Final appearance.

With further support from the large and vibrant Bulldog supporting cohort, we now push towards 2500 members – a record-smashing achievement in our 120th year. Please turn your mind to how we can further bind more of our Fan Family in the form of Membership, of the “Premier Family Club”.

As the Premier Family Club, this generosity and care from our community towards the Club has been overwhelming. It has further illustrated the support the Bulldogs enjoy and just how special the culture and character of Souths people is – loyal, unwavering, Club-first always.

To Todd, Beau and all our coaches and support staff, I thank you for your efforts so far this season, operating and delivering high performance standards in what has been a fluid and at times, unpredictable environment.

There is much work still ahead in 2020, we know this and look forward to it.

For now, we unashamedly celebrate the fact that we’re a Football Club that is admired for working hard to be sustainable and successful on and off the field, with a culture aligned to our core principles, and enjoying quite incredible support from many fans, near and far.

We are South Fremantle.

See you at the Footy.
