WAFLW | Bulldogs go down on Good Friday
It wasn’t quite to be for South Fremantle in Good Friday WAFLW action as they came up against a rampant Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval.
It was a tremendous start to the new season for the Bulldogs with the derby win against East Fremantle ahead of taking on last year’s grand finalists at Steel Blue Oval on Good Friday.

It took more than 15 minutes for the first goal of the contest and that went the way of Swan Districts thanks to Tyla Fitzgerald which saw the home team go into quarter-time leading by four points.
The Swans then made the flying start to the second quarter with a goal at the five-minute mark to Ashley Sharp and another seven minutes in from Taylah Edwards.
Swan Districts closed the first half with three more goals in five minutes thanks to Summer Yarran, Naomi Baker and Edwards, and those five goals to nil in the second term had the black-and-whites leading by 37 points going into half-time.
Swans kept that momentum going into the second half with a third goal to Edwards before Yarran also kicked her second to stretch the lead to 49 points before Shannyn Pomersbach managed a first goal of the game just before three quarter-time for South Fremantle.
The Swans closed out the game with two more goals in the last quarter from Sharp to complete the 48-point WAFL Women’s victory.
The action got underway back on Thursday night also at Steel Blue Oval with the Rogers Cup match up and that saw South Fremantle come up short with Swan Districts scoring the 10.7 (67) to 4.5 (29) win on their home deck.
Swans made the fast start with three goals to one in the opening quarter under lights before the home team then added two more goals to one in the second term to head into half-time leading by 19 points.
