WAFLW | BULLDOGS WIN ON THE SIREN

Shannyn Pomersbach is having a standout goalkicking season with South Fremantle and she kicked the winner on the siren on Saturday with the Bulldogs ending up beating West Perth by three points in the WAFLW as a result.

Round 11 of the WAFLW took place for South Fremantle on Saturday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval when they played host to West Perth with plenty on the line for both teams.

Then with time running out, West Perth were three points on top before South Fremantle earned a free-kick inside 50 for holding the ball against the Falcons.

Pomersbach took the shot but was off target, but West Perth were penalised a 50m penalty giving Pomersbach the shot from the goal square. She completed the deal just as the siren sounded for South Fremantle to win 6.3 (39) to 5.6 (36).

The result improves South Fremantle to a 5-4 record with a draw for the season to now be in fifth position and two points ahead of West Perth.

West Perth then had the only four scores of the second quarter with the first three of those behinds before they did kick a goal just before half-time to head into the half-time interval with a narrow three-point edge over the Bulldogs.

South Fremantle then fired up in the third term starting with a goal at the eight-minute mark to Annalie Polimeno before Madi Hadley and Jess Watts also kicked truly to put the home team in front by 16 points at three quarter-time.

West Perth responded with the first three goals of the final term to be leading by three points but the Bulldogs had the last say when Pomersbach received the free-kick for holding the ball just before the siren.

Her shot from around 40m out missed, but she was awarded the 50m penalty and kicked the goal as the siren sounded with the Bulldogs securing the heart stopping three-point victory.
