South Fremantle has already handed Subiaco a first loss of the WAFLW season and now have the chance to do the same to Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The NAIDOC Week celebrations will continue on Saturday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with the WAFLW contest between South Fremantle and Claremont.

It will get underway at 3:45pm following the men’s WAFL encounter with the Rogers Cup game to then take place on Sunday afternoon at 12:35pm following on from the colts match up also featuring the Bulldogs and Tigers.

South Fremantle comes into the Round 14 match up with Claremont in impressive form having won their past two matches to now sit in third position on the WAFLW ladder with a 7-5 record.

That included the Bulldogs handing Subiaco a first, and only, loss of the season so far by 43 points two weeks ago and then backing it up by beating East Perth by 60 points last Friday night and holding the Royals to the one solitary behind.

Now the challenge for South Fremantle is taking on the reigning premiers Claremont who are yet to lose again so far this season with 10 wins to their name while the Tigers also had a draw with Subiaco back in Round 7 when both teams were undefeated.

The two teams did play one another earlier this season back in Round 4 when it was a 22-point victory for Claremont at Revo Fitness Stadium on Good Friday.

In that game, Poppy Stockwell kicked three goals for South Fremantle while having 17 possessions with Tahleah Mulder also finishing with 17 disposals, Alyssa Smogavec 16, Ella Matthews 16, Hannah Burt 16 and Madizen Wilkins 15.

Saturday’s clash is now going to be crucial in the context of the season for both teams with a win for Claremont seeing them maintain their hold on top spot while South Fremantle can stay clear in third with a victory in a bid to lock away home ground advantage for a first semi-final.

South Fremantle are fresh off beating East Perth by 10 goals last Friday night and from that team, Pia Durk, Ebony Grant, Kate Newson, Sophie Rodger and Jess Watts come into the squad.

Lauren Vecchio goes out of the team that will take on Claremont on Saturday afternoon.

Claremont are looking to keep their undefeated record going with Bec Anderson, Lauren Hutton, Rachel Ortlepp and Taylah Orzel into their squad that beat Swan Districts by nine points last week.

Then there is the Rogers Cup match up on Sunday afternoon which is another crucial game in the context of the season of both teams.

South Fremantle are currently sitting second with a 6-5 record with a draw while Claremont are right behind them with six wins and five losses meaning the winner will sitting in the top four by the end of the round.
