BULLDOGS WIN BIG OVER EAGLES

Author: South Fremantle Football Club

THE dynamic midfield of Haiden Schloithe, Isiah Winder and Matthew Parker all fired in South Fremantle’s commanding 53-point win at home to the West Coast Eagles as the Bulldogs consolidated third position.

South Fremantle was back home at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday looking to bounce back from a loss to Swan Districts, and the Bulldogs wasted no time taking control against the Eagles.

The Bulldogs kicked four goals to one in the first quarter and five goals to two in the second to set up the eventual 13.11 (89) to 5.6 (36) victory to improve to a 7-3 record on the season and to remain clear in third position on the WAFL ladder.

There were some standout performers in the win for South Fremantle with Matthew Parker amassing 40 possessions in the midfield to go with nine inside-50 entries, eight marks, six tackles and a goal.

Isiah Winder continued his blistering form with another 28 disposals and two goals while Haiden Schloithe collected 32 touches, seven inside 50s, six marks, six tackles and a goal.

Dylan Main also kicked two goals for South Fremantle in what was the 150th game of his WAFL career which includes 132 he has played with the Bulldogs along with the 18 at East Perth while he was listed at the West Coast Eagles.

Chad Pearson also gathered 26 possessions and nine marks for South Fremantle with fellow defender Toby McQuilkin having 24 touches and 14 marks along Glenn Byron finishing with 21 disposals, Noah Strom 19 and Jordan Boullineau 16 to go with 10 marks and eight tackles.

Aaron Drage also came into the team after 50 possessions in the reserves last week to gather 25 touches with George Wessels finishing with 21 disposals and Ashton Ferreira 16.

Solomon James also came in for his first game since Round 14 last year to lead the ruck and ended up with 15 possessions, 51 hit outs and three tackles.

West Coast made the perfect start with a goal inside the first minute thanks to Jordyn Baker but only four minutes later and South Fremantle got on the board courtesy of Lewis Rayson.

The Bulldogs then got on a roll from there with goals to Aaron Drage, Dylan Main and Isiah Winder heading into quarter-time with the 17-point lead.

South Fremantle kept that roll going to start the second quarter with a goal to Robbie Turnbull and the Bulldogs also got goals from Winder, Ed Graham, Haiden Schloithe and Matthew Parker to go into the half-time break in control leading by 41 points.

It wasn’t a third quarter to write home about with just the one goal apiece but then South Fremantle ensured the emphatic win with last quarter goals to Kaden Harbour, Zac Strom and Main to end up winning by 53 points.

Because of the league team playing against the Eagles, the colts and reserves had the bye for South Fremantle in Round 12.

Following the opening 12 rounds of the season, South Fremantle’s colts sit in last spot on the ladder with a 2-6 record but with plenty of exciting talent looking to shine in the second half of the season.

The reserves for the Bulldogs are in fifth position on the ladder with a 4-4 record to be just a game behind the fourth placed East Perth with a game in hand.
