Colts Report – Round 18

Author: South Fremantle Football Club

THE South Fremantle colts side put on a solid four quarter effort last week against the West Perth side out at Brownes Stadium for the WAFL Colts Super Round.

They were able to maintain their dominant start through the entire 100 minutes and played a style of game that impressed many of the AFL recruiters on hand.

With a relatively easier game, the boys were able to move the ball quickly and methodically to the forward-line and give players like Traye Bennell, Bailey Matera and Jermaine Lewis the opportunity to cause havoc and set up many clever shots on goal.

The forward-line showed great desire to harass the West Perth backmen and display their many tricks to create some mercurial football.

The midfield were able to nullify the opposition and move the ball from the dominant back-line through the open space with precision and speed. Josh Hall and Dan Moore were good in the air allowing the likes of Jarrod Garlett, Jacob Dragovich and James Culleton sweep on the loose ball and use it effectively forward.

The back-line led by Matty Gundry were again superb in holding the Falcons to only five goals. Through the likes of Dylan Main, Tom Vanderluer and Jordan Comeagain we were able to start many attacking moves deep in defence and create space on the wide Brownes Stadium ground.

The team is regularly displaying some creative team displays and it is pleasing to see them group together and see the genuine sense of desire in contributing toward the team’s success. Another big challenge this week as we take on the arch enemy in East Fremantle.
