South Fremantle Football Club is proud to announce Matt Rogers will join the Senior coaching panel from season 2027, stepping up after three outstanding years at the helm of our Colts program.
Rogers’ leadership, mentoring and passion have been central to a successful period for the Colts, with a number of players drafted to the AFL system, a Grand Final appearance and the group currently sitting on top of the ladder. His move to the senior program is a natural next step and a strong signal of the coaching pathway that exists within SFFC.
“Matt has driven standards, culture and Red Collar values in our Colts program that has seen a lot of success for a talent program over the past few seasons,” said Head of Football Charlie Burke.
“To elevate coaches through our pathway programs demonstrates our passion as a club to continually develop and reward our people, which is a big part of our club’s strategy.
“I’ve been fortunate to witness Matt’s development over the last few years, and he’s one of many in our programs who has welcomed feedback as part of his personal growth.
“Matt is a competitive person who has played over 150 games at WAFL League level, and I’m excited for our senior playing group to have someone like Matt join us from next season.”
Rogers’ promotion adds another experienced and respected voice to the senior coaching group, further strengthening the club’s ability to develop players at the top level.
“It’s bitter sweet to leave the fantastic people who made our colts program so special, but it was a straightforward decision to stay at the premier family club” said Rogers
With Rogers moving into the senior program, the club will begin advertising for the Colts Head Coach position in the coming weeks.
