WAFLW | LEE KICKS SIX ON DEBUT

South Australian Kiana Lee made a remarkable WAFLW debut kicking six goals as South Fremantle won big against Peel Thunder in Mandurah on Saturday to keep their finals prospects alive for 2026.

The Bulldogs took on the Thunder at Lane Group Stadium looking to try to enhance their finals prospects and came out and kicked the only three goals of the first quarter for the perfect start.

South Fremantle then kicked four goals to one in the second quarter, two to nil in the third and then three to two in the last on the way to the 12.10 (82) to 3.2 (20) victory.

The result sees South Fremantle improve to 7-5 record with a draw in the WAFLW competition to sit in fourth position to now be a game clear of the fifth placed Perth.

Kiana Lee was playing this season in the SANFLW with Glenelg and also played in the State game for South Australia against Western Australia, but has now joined South Fremantle and made a stunning debut.

She kicked six goals from 12 kicks with eight marks while Shannyn Pomersbach also kicked three goals for the Bulldogs and Annalie Polimeno two.

Ash Gomes racked up 26 possessions for South Fremantle in the win with TJ Mulder also gathering 21 disposals while laying 13 tackles.

Brianna Cleggett also had 16 touches, Polimeno 14, Ella Matthews 12, Hannah Burt 12 and Makaela Tuhakaraina 11 to go with 12 tackles.

It took South Fremantle less than two minutes for the first goal of the game before she finished the opening term with a second and in between Shannyn Pomersbach kicked another and the Bulldogs were leading by 20 points at quarter-time.

Kiana Lee kicked two goals inside the first seven minutes of the second quarter before she added a third shortly after and then Pomersbach kicked her second.

Peel did kick their only goal of the half just before the break but going into half-time and South Fremantle were in control leading by 40 points.

Lee kicked her fourth goal to start the second half before Pomersbach also kicked a third in the third quarter and by three quarter-time the Bulldogs were leading by 54 points.

Lee was able to kick her fifth and sixth goals in the final quarter with Jess Watts also kicking another for South Fremantle to romp to the 62-point win in Mandurah.

The Rogers Cup contest took place on Saturday night in Mandurah and that saw South Fremantle score the thumping 17.4 (106) to 2.8 (20) victory against Peel Thunder.

It was a blistering start to the game by South Fremantle with seven goals to one in the first quarter before another two to nil in the second term to go into half-time leading by 45 points.

It was then the Bulldogs kicking the only five goals of the third quarter and then three to one in the last term for the 86-point victory to improve to a 5-8 record to remain a chance still of breaking into the finals before season’s end.

Khesan Starr and Maddison Catley both kicked four goals in the big win for South Fremantle with Ayvah Rioli adding three and Macey McDougall two.

Maningning Morales, Gracie-Lee Briggs, Makenzie Chapple and Olivia Ricupero all kicked one goal each too.
