Young players on the way up

Author: South Fremantle Football Club

FIVE young South Fremantle Football Club members are a step closer to their dream of playing in the AFL after being selected in the AIS-AFL Academy Squads.

Callum Ah Chee, Kade Stewart, Jarrod Pickett, Jermaine Miller-Lewis and Matthew Ah Siu were among more than 60 players from around the country selected for the squads, allowing them to come together four times in the next 12 months for training camps as well as the opportunity to travel overseas.

South Fremantle player development manager Daniel Vidovich said the selection was exciting for the club and the players.

“The boys have worked extremely hard through the club’s development programs over the past couple of seasons and to be awarded with an AIS Scholarship, the club is extremely proud of them,” he said.

“It is a great achievement being selected and the boys realise that they still need to continue to do the right things on and off the field to maintain a high level of professionalism and continue their development moving forward.
