NAIDOC ROUND 2024

Friday, July 5, 2024 - 3:36 PM

NAIDOC Round 2024 has kicked off and we have a lot planned - including our re-launched South Fremantle NAIDOC Guernsey.

Refer to South Fremantle's proud & storied Indigenous Connection here.

We were incredibly lucky to have Darryl Bellotti design this striking guernsey that tells our story.

The Guernsey highlights the location of the club at the mouth of the river and on the Indian Ocean coast. A mixture of land and sea animals are included, with the journey of Nyoongar people weaving through the great lakes and waterways of the Whadjuck region.

The swirls at the bottom represent the mixing of salt and fresh water a the mouth of the Swan River. The circle in the middle represents the club at the heart of the story.

We started off the week by having a Smoking Ceremony on Monday performed by Len Collard of Moodjar Consultancy.
Our Colts, Seniors, and Staff all gathered together to open the week with this moving ceremony.
On Thursday evening our senior squad enjoyed traditional bush tucker, including delicious kangaroo stews, curries damper and pies.
