17 DEBUTANTS ACROSS 2023!
This season saw a record number of players making their debut with 17 players wearing the red and white at league level, with 11 of those players all coming through our talent pathway. Three of the debutants have also come through the Upper Great Southern Rams program.
ROUND 1
Round 1 saw 5 players debut which was the most debutants in one round all season!
19-year-old, Chase Bourne had 13 disposals in his debut and a goal. Former Adelaide Crows player Jordan Gallucci also put a goal on the board in his debut for Souths to go with his 18 disposals. Kaden Harbour joined the Bulldogs from East Perth during the pre-season and his first game saw him clocking 12 disposals. 200cm ruck, Solomon James had 39 hit outs! Mackenzie Nield also scored on debut after re-locating from interstate to be with his wife.
ROUND 2
Ruckman Jackson Broadbent played his first game against Claremont after joining the Bulldogs from Peel Thunder. Roan O’Hehir debuted after being with South Fremantle since he began in our Futures Program in 2020.
ROUND 3
Upper Great Southern’s Nathan Spooner made his stand-alone debut after coming through our Colts program.
ROUND 4
Robbie Turnbull debuted against Swan Districts with 15 disposals.
ROUND 5
Another player that has come through our colts is Caleb Stephens. His debut year saw him averaging 17 disposals per game.
ROUND 6
Toby Dodds made his debut against East Perth as a small defender and acquired 11 disposals.
ROUND 10
Jack Blechynden – a product from the Brookton-Pingelly region, joined his brother Tom Blechynden in his wholesome debut after several impressive performances in thereserves.
ROUND 16
Jermaine Pickett has made his way through from the Colts and debuted against rivals East Fremantle in a thrilling game.
ROUND 17
Aaron Drage sure had a debut to remember! He had 23 disposals under his belt with 4 marks, 3 tackles, and 3 inside fifties and was named among the best players. He then broke a record being the first player since 1986 to lead his team in disposals in his first 3 WAFL games.
ROUND 18
Three up and coming Bulldogs all got to debut together. 18-year-old Ed Graham and Ashton Ferreira who played Colts earlier in the season! Mitch Sinnott achieved 13 disposals which had loyal supporters all excited for the future ahead with all three making their mark early.
