Peter Christie - President

After growing up in an avid South Fremantle Football Club family, and playing some Colts footy at South Fremantle in the early 80's where his father Jim was a long-term Committee member in the 1970's and 80's, Peter was asked to join the Board in 2004 by then President Terry Dean.

Peter became Vice President in 2009, holding this position for the next 10 years before being appointed as President of the Club in December 2018, following the retirement of Haydn Raitt. Peter was made a Life Member in 2014.

An Accountant by profession, Peter runs a successful Nedlands-based accounting firm as well as controlling various property and hospitality interests across Western Australia. He is also chair of two ASX-listed resource-based public companies.

Peter is the Chair of the Finance Committee.

Anthony Van Der Wielen - Vice President

Anthony is a proud Life Member and the current Vice President of the club who has served on the Board since 2008. He is a distinguished figure in both the real estate and sports sectors of Western Australia. His entrepreneurial spirit and transparent approach have led to a flourishing 30-year business career, highlighted by the success of Empire Property and Empire Sports Management.

As a fifth-generation resident of Fremantle, Anthony's deep connection to the area is a defining aspect of his identity. His understanding of Fremantle's community, culture, and business landscape underscores his expertise in local matters. His accomplishments in real estate are extensive, ranging from managing developments and subdivisions to handling construction projects.

In the sporting world, Anthony has made a significant impact as an AFL accredited player agent for over 20 years, managing the careers of some of WA's top sports personalities. His expertise is not confined to player representation; he has also served as a Commissioner of combat sports for the WA government and has been instrumental in mentoring individuals in both the business and sporting arenas.

His commitment extends beyond his professional life, encompassing a deep love and dedication to the club, his family, and the wider community.

Anthony is Chair of the Football Committee. 

Liz Houston - Secretary

Liz has been an active volunteer with the Club since 2013, joining the Board as a seconded Member in 2018 before becoming an elected Member in 2020 and again in 2022. She has served on a number of committees and fulfils the secretariat function for monthly Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting. 

Recently retired after almost 10 years with the federal regulator of the offshore energy industry, Liz has considerable governance, strategic planning, project management, business improvement and event management experience across a diverse range of industries including executive recruitment, onshore mining and marketing and communications.

Liz has enhanced her governance skills by completing the Governance Institute of Australia’s Certificate in Governance for Not-for-Profits in 2023 and Effective Director Course in 2022, in addition she has completed sports governance modules offered by the Australian Sports Commission. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Organisational Human Resources and Safety from Murdoch University.

Liz is Club Secretary and a member of the Governance, Risk and Compliance Committee.

Hayley Manser - Director

Hayley joined the Board as a seconded Board Member in 2020, becoming an elected member at the end of 2020 and having served since . Hayley served on two previous Board Committees for three years prior to joining the board, the Operations Committee, and the Governance Committee. 

While now retired, in her professional life, Hayley was a Risk Management professional with many years’ experience in both the private and public sectors. Hayley worked for more than 10 years in the public service prior to her retirement, implementing risk management processes and practices into the various areas of a government Department.

Hayley brings to the Board risk management, governance, and business knowledge from working in large organisations and particularly working collaboratively together to achieve results.

Hayley has a Bachelor of Legal Studies from Murdoch University and has completed the AICD Director fundamentals course.

Hayley is currently the Chair of the Governance Risk and Compliance Committee.

Bruce Willis - Director

Bruce joined the Board as an elected Director in 2016, having grown up in a South Fremantle Football Club family (father, Brian, played for Souths in the early 1950s). 

Bruce spent most of his working life in the Army, and after retiring from full-time military service was the General Manager of an aerospace business based at Jandakot. He has provided leadership support services to the West Coast Eagles and WA Cricket, and delivered leadership training to the Western Force, the West Coast Fever and the South Fremantle Football Club.

Bruce's football experience includes playing at junior, senior and Masters levels, being a level 1 Auskick coach, and serving as the U16s and then U18s Team Manager with the WAFC State Academy during the period 2012 to 2016.

He has more than 15 years' experience as a Director on not-for-profit Boards, and his range of qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies), Graduate Diploma in Management and a Masters in Sport Management. He is a graduate of the Australian Command and Staff College and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Bruce is a member of the Football Committee and the Governance, Risk & Compliance Committee.

Simon Moore-Crouch - Director

Simon joined the board in 2021, returning to the WA football industry after a short break following almost four years in Executive roles at the West Australian Football Commission.

During his time at the WAFC he oversaw a number of portfolios including talent development, commercial partnerships, marketing, communications, facilities and strategy. This included leading the team which took the WAFL Grand Final to Optus Stadium, negotiated the extension of the WAFL broadcast agreement with Channel 7 and which won a national title in the male Under-18s national carnival.

Outside of football he has more than a decade of sports industry experience including a stint at the NBA league headquarters in New York City and his current role leading global strategy for a US-based sports-technology company.

Complementing this is time as a management consultant, advising the world’s biggest companies with the Boston Consulting Group in Perth and Washington, DC, and an MBA from Duke University in North Carolina.

He has a deep love of the city of Fremantle, having spent four years studying in the Port City, and sees the Bulldogs playing a key role within the broader Fremantle community.

Simon is a member of the Finance Committee.

Dean Nalder - Director

Dean was a former player with South Fremantle winning a Premiership in the Reserves in 1986 and as Centre Half Forward in the 1989 League Grand Final. Injuries limited his playing time (30 league games) and forced him into early retirement in 1992

Dean has a Bachelor of Business in Economics and Financial Management from Curtin University and a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investments from The Securities Institute of Australia. 

His corporate life included 18 years at ANZ where he moved States 5 times and became a Senior Executive. Dean was also an Executive at Australia Post responsible for all commercial operations in WA.   

Following Family footsteps, Dean entered the WA Parliament in 2013 and from 2014 held portfolios including Transport, Finance and Agriculture as a Minister of the Crown. He became Shadow Treasurer in opposition from 2017 until his retirement at the 2021 state election. 

Dean is Chair of the Future Committee. 

Michael Kain - Director [appointed]

Growing up in Williams in the heart of the Upper Great Southern Michael (Mick) enjoyed a long playing & administrative career with both the Williams FC and the UGSFL.

Having played in excess of 400 senior games of Country footy including a short stint at SFFC in 1986, Mick retired from competitive footy in the late 90's and began an extended period in football administration.

As a past President of the Williams FC and the UGSFL, Mick also spent 7 years on the Board of the West Australian Country Football League (WACFL) & also 10 years on the Central Districts Regional Football Council, including 4 years as Chairperson.

Coming from a small business background, Mick has successfully owned 2 retail SME's in Narrogin for more than 16 years, before transitioning into Agriculture sales & management across regional WA.

Mick is a Life Member of both the Williams FC and the UGSFL in recognition of his service to both organisations.

Mick will advise strategic activities across our Country regions and Country football relationships. 

Caitlin Worner - Director [appointed]

Caitlin is a senior marketing executive with over 15 years’ corporate experience, specialising in property. She is currently the WA State Marketing Manager at Stockland, one of Australia’s largest diversified property groups.

Caitlin brings expertise in marketing, brand and communication and looks forward to collaborating with the board and the executive team to drive growth, focusing on member experience and brand advocacy.

Known for her creativity and commercial acumen, Caitlin is passionate about leading high-performing teams built on a culture of inclusion, accountability, and respect. Caitlin actively contributes to her community, having been involved with the UDIA Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Stockland Women in Leadership Programme, and ABCN student mentoring programme.

A graduate of Notre Dame Fremantle, Caitlin is a proud advocate of the City of Fremantle and has a deep respect for the long history of the Bulldogs and the role the club plays in the wider community.

Caitlin will advise strategic activities across brand, communications and property activities. 

 

Cameron Britt - Chief Executive Officer

Cameron is an experienced sports administration professional, having led commercial, community and fan growth & engagement strategies across multiple sports and brands.

Recognised for being community minded yet commercially astute, Cameron has an extensive record in leading high-performing teams to deliver outcomes within sport.

Cameron has a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Sports Management, and a MBA from Deakin Business School. He has formerly been a Business News WA 40under40 winner plus a scholarship recipient with Leadership WA.

Joining South Fremantle as CEO in 2019, a key vision has been to grow membership and commercial revenue streams, with a focus upon fan & brand activities. 

Cameron has previously been the CEO of an NBL1 club, managed community and fan engagement strategies for the Essendon Football Club, and served as a Director of The Long Walk charity.

Cameron is a member participant of all Board Committees.
