WAFLW HEAD COACH

The Opportunity:

The WAFLW Head Coach works closely with the Manager – Female Football and Administration, Rogers Cup Head Coach, support staff and wider SFFC Club staff to lead and drive the creation of a positive learning, wellbeing, and growth environment, where our WAFLW players can then develop and thrive as footballers and people.

In this role you will be responsible for the development of a strong performance culture where team values are respected and consistently met by the Playing Group, as well as the development and implementation of the coaching panel, football program and match day coaching strategy.

The WAFLW Senior Coach will also play a key role in the recruitment, retention, and management of the WAFLW playing list and will build strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders, represent, and support the Club with any marketing initiatives for the promotion of the SFFC and WAFLW brand.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Measures:

• Create an enjoyable, engaging, honest and educational environment

• Drive standards within the playing group and keep them at a high level

• Demonstrate high level planning and communication

• Build strong relationships with coaching group and staff

• Responsible with the Assistant Coaches for match day planning, performances and tactics including game plans, style of play, match ups and team selection

• Demonstrate an ability to empower, develop and lead (support staff, coaches and players)

• Show and demands respect from players, staff, supporters, opposition and umpires

• Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written

• Exhibit high levels of sound ethical foundations in decision-making and strong consistent principles underlying management and leadership behaviours

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Qualification (or working towards)

• Coaching experience, preferably within a State League and/or AFL environment

• Sound knowledge or awareness of IT platforms used at state league level such as HUDL (vision platform) and Champion Data (statistics)

• High level of football knowledge and the ability to pass that knowledge on to players

• Clear coaching philosophy that reflects SFFC values

• A current Driver’s License

• Current Working with Children’s Check (or ability to obtain)
