CEO UPDATE | JOIN THE FIGHT BACK

Tuesday, October 31, 2023 - 10:11 AM

To our valued members, partners and stakeholders,

Today marks the conclusion of our financial year, and with plenty of activity happening in and around the Club, it’s an opportune time to discuss key updates with supporters.

OUR FIGHT BACK

We are excited to launch our
‘Fight Back’ membership campaign TOMORROW.

This is a collective ‘call to arms’ for all Souths people, to join up as a member and help us in this fight back up the ladder.

As our song suggests, we are
‘always fighting on’ and ‘our fighting spirit wins the game.’

Keep an eye out for this launch and our ongoing messaging - and remember its importance. Please join up for 2024 and in doing so you will help us fight back.

We’ve frozen all 2023 membership pricing, assisting all our fans to both re-join and join.

Furthermore, we have established a WAFLW season pass. For just $30, Members can add this great value offering to any membership, enabling attendance at all home female games in 2024, supporting our women’s program and its continuing growth.

We invite all supporters to join us at our next Club Buffet evening on Friday Nov 10, please contact the Club for booking and price information. It’s an opportunity for us all to get to the Club and share a meal together prior to the busy festive season.

FOOTBALL FOCUS

Our 2024 season will have a clear football focus.

South Fremantle is a big club, and we have plenty of moving parts, initiatives, and activities, but football is and remains our core business.

Our 2024 budgets will see increased investment across Male, Female & Talent programs to ensure we are developing our people, programs and footballers at the right pace.

We have commenced investment into new talent, new specialist roles and new technologies to further advance our high-performance objectives. Such investments are critical to us competing in finals and winning Premierships.

We have been busy recruiting new footballers to our Club, across both our Male and Female programs, and will leave no stone unturned to improve our playing lists.

We firmly believe that our WAFL and WAFLW programs should be equipped to contend for Premierships on any given year, and this is a driving motivation of our off-season activities.

Our Women’s teams commence their pre-season training this week, and our Men’s teams from early December. This time of the year is always an exciting time around the Club, as we welcome new arrivals and set our plans for success.

FINANCIAL STABILITY

We have worked diligently this year to ensure that we can deliver another strong financial result, and we are proud to be a capable and resilient business.

With no Men’s finals participation in 2023, achieving our financial goals became more challenging. However with the support of our commercial partners, members and fans we got through a tough year and for this we are incredibly grateful.

Our ‘Bullish’ strategic plan states that to ‘Safeguard our Club’, we need to be:
- Profitable
- Debt free
- Financially stable, independent, and sustainable
- Preserving and growing our asset base.

I am pleased to advise that we comply with all four of our financial principles per above and despite the complexities of 2023, we will record a profit at our AGM on Monday Dec 4.

Such profits support our balance sheet growth and prepare us for what the future may hold, and extraordinary cost events, such as a landmark redevelopment of Fremantle Oval.

As always, we will keep all our supporters up to date via our communication channels. Stay tuned for further announcements on players, key people and our football programs.

Thank you for your support as we look forward to 2024 with great excitement.
