RD 15 WAFL PREVIEW | v SWAN DISTRICTS

South Fremantle will be looking for a third straight win this season and fourth in-a-row against Swan Districts to continue to build momentum into their WAFL premiership defence at home on Saturday.

The Bulldogs will be hosting the Swans at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with the League game getting underway at 2:30pm.

It’s a big game in the context of the season for both teams too with South Fremantle having won their past couple against Subiaco and Claremont to be in fourth position coming into Round 15 with an 8-5 record but just percentage out of second spot.

Swan Districts, meanwhile, have also won their past two against West Perth and East Perth to keep their finals hopes alive sitting in eighth place at 5-8 but just two games back from the fifth placed Royals.

South Fremantle now hasn’t lost to Swan Districts since Round 11, 2024 with the two teams playing out a draw later in that same season and then the Bulldogs winning twice by a combined 24 points in 2025 on the way to the premiership.

South Fremantle also beat Swan Districts back in Round 1 this season at Steel Blue Oval by 45 points and on that day, Jordan Boullineau kicked five goals and Trey Ruscoe four, but neither will be out there this time around.

Isiah Winder racked up 30 possessions, Jake Florenca 28, Lucas Robinson 28, Roan O’Hehir 24 and Tarkyn Etherington 20 while Hamish Free had 44 hit outs in the ruck.

South Fremantle coach Craig White is fully aware of how dangerous Swan Districts can be and doesn’t want them to get their attacking game going too often on Saturday.

“They play a great brand of footy and when you watch them play and they execute, they’re really exciting and have the ability to really run and spread, and make the ground big,” White told Sportsday WA on SEN WA.

“They can link up through their play with some really quality midfielders and half backs and wingers, and then big Leigh Kohlmann is back in form from a full-forward point of view after he missed the start of the year.

“They’re a really dangerous outfit especially when they’ve got momentum as well so I’m sure every team facing them will no doubt be on their toes and we will have to be this week to take away the run that they’ve got, and hopefully test them on their defensive side of things.”

South Fremantle are looking to make it three wins in-a-row and welcome back dual premiership player Tom Blechynden along with Max Thomas ahead of facing Swan Districts on Saturday.

Going out for the Bulldogs are Cooper Clarke-Dehring and the suspended Jordan Boullineau.

Swan Districts are also on the hurt for a third consecutive victory with Otis Harvey, Jackson McLachlan, Tom Smith and Leo Steed into the side from the one that beat East Perth last Saturday.

Going out for the Swans are Harley Cummings, Will Collins, Jarvis Pina and Max Chipper.

The day’s action will get underway on Saturday morning at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with the Colts contest where South Fremantle host Swan Districts from 9:15am.

South Fremantle are fresh off beating Claremont by 29 points last week while Swan Districts won a one-point thriller against East Perth.

Those wins mean that coming into Saturday morning’s Round 15 match up that South Fremantle remain on top of the Colts ladder with a 10-2 record while Swan Districts are 4-7 and sitting in fifth place.

Next up is the Reserves clash also at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and that will get underway at 11:45am with South Fremantle at home and sitting in seventh position with a 5-7 record while Swan Districts hold a perfect 11-0 record to be four games clear in first place.

Swans are fresh off beating East Perth by 14 points last Saturday at Steel Blue Oval while the Bulldogs will be looking to hit back from a 30-point loss on the road to Claremont.
