Author: South Fremantle Football Club
South Fremantle Football Club congratulates John Worsfold on his induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, recognising one of the most distinguished careers in Australian football history.
Worsfold’s induction is fitting recognition of an extraordinary contribution to the game spanning more than four decades as a player, captain, coach and administrator.
After beginning his senior football journey at South Fremantle in 1986, Worsfold joined West Coast as an inaugural player in 1987 and quickly established himself as one of the competition’s premier leaders. Renowned for his toughness, professionalism and unwavering commitment to team success, he captained the Eagles to historic premierships in 1992 and 1994, becoming one of the defining figures of the club’s early years.
Following a decorated playing career, Worsfold returned to lead West Coast as senior coach, guiding the Eagles to consecutive Grand Final appearances and a premiership in 2006. His ability to inspire and unite teams, both on and off the field, cemented his reputation as one of football’s most respected figures.
Beyond his achievements as a player and coach, Worsfold has continued to make a significant contribution to Australian football through leadership and mentoring roles across the game. His integrity, humility and dedication have earned the admiration of teammates, opponents and supporters alike.
The Hall of Fame induction adds to an already remarkable list of accolades and serves as recognition of the lasting impact Worsfold has had on Australian football.
Everyone at South Fremantle Football Club extends their congratulations to John and his family on this prestigious honour.
A thoroughly deserved recognition for one of the game’s great servants.
Congratulations, Woosha.
