Another successful President's Function at Fremantle Community Bank Oval
PRESIDENT'S Function guests of the South Fremantle Football Club were treated to another great day on Saturday as a host of special guests and great food led to another successful match day event.
On a jam packed schedule guests were treated to a wide ranging series of guests and interviews as club legend Steve Marsh, current league player Brendan Verrier, recruit Zephaniah Skinner and Paula Curley, wife of league coach Todd.
They all spoke on their unique perspective to the game and to the club.
Steve delved into some of his fondest memories from being associated with the club while also having some stern advice for the current plight of the Fremantle Dockers.
Brendan gave great insight into the culture that has been created by the current playing group and updated on a unique injury that kept him out of Saturday’s game, and will keep him out for at least one more game this Saturday against Claremont at the Showground.
Zeph spoke of both his AFL journey and return to WAFL football while Paula who was on hand to represent wives and partners of players and coaches with her tales of support proving how important a strong relationship is in football.
With respected broadcaster Gary Carvolth on hand to host as master of ceremonies and President Haydn Raitt and CEO Stuart Kemp delivering match day addresses with caterers Numero Uno doing a typically wonderful job with their buffet lunch, the day was enjoyed by all in attendance.
The raffle prizes were generously donated by Valentines Camera House, the West Coast Eagles, Café Bellavista and Fremantle Gazette with the total value on offer across the raffle in excess of $1,300.
To complete the day a lucky dip margin draw was run with some long-time club supporters having reason to smile with an after the siren goal being kicked leading to a popular off-field win.
The President's Function was one of the first events to be held in the newly painted Griff John Function Centre with the main function hall accurately representing the club's colours with a prominent Red V.
The newly updated function room is expected to help increase both private and business functions and was a much needed facelift for the club.
