MIXED BULLDOGS RESULTS AS WAFLW RESUMES

SOUTH Fremantle's Youth Girls scored a thumping Rogers Cup victory over Swan Districts on Sunday while there were mixed results for the WAFLW League and Reserves teams across the weekend.

The Round 7 action got underway on Saturday morning with South Fremantle's WAFLW League team in action and ultimately losing to Claremont 8.4 (52) to 0.5 (5) at Revo Fitness Stadium.

South Fremantle's other female football teams were at home at Fremantle Community Bank Oval against Swan Districts on Sunday, with the Reserves losing 2.3 (15) to 1.2 (8) before the Youth Girls scored a thumping Rogers Cup win over Swans, 10.8 (68) to 0.0 (0).

The WAFLW season resumed after a weekend off over Easter and Claremont was able to continue its good form with a home win on Saturday over South Fremantle by 47 points.

It was an important win for the Tigers too to keep them in touch for a top two finish while the Bulldogs are still chasing that elusive first ever victory in the WAFLW competition.

Claremont and South Fremantle, in fact, are the only two teams yet to reach a Grand Final in the WAFLW competition, but the Tigers took a step closer towards making that possible in 2021 after their performance on Saturday on home turf at Revo Fitness Stadium.

The Tigers started the game on fire kicking the only three goals of the opening quarter. They added two more goals in the second term and that saw Claremont head into the half-time break leading South Fremantle by 30 points.

Claremont kicked another two goals in the third quarter and then another in the last to hold South Fremantle goalless and end up winning 8.4 (52) to 0.5 (5).

South Fremantle might have not managed to kick a goal for the game but Lara Rodin-Zimdahl had her chances finishing with three behinds.

Kiara Templeman, Sheridan Kowald, Tahlia Holtze, Pia Durk and Lara Rodin-Zimdahl all were among the best performers in the loss for South Fremantle.

Then on Sunday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval, the action got underway with South Fremantle's Youth Girls team recording a 68-point victory over Swan Districts having kept their opponents scoreless.

Emily Boothman was outstanding in attack for the Bulldogs earning eight shots on goal and kicking four of those while Jayde Musika kicked three goals. Holly Denholm, Elenora Pinna and Taige Sullivan all kicked a goal each as well.

Emily Boothman, Molly O'Hehir, Indi Strom, Noa McNaughton and Jayde Musika were all terrific across the four quarters for the South Fremantle Rogers Cup team.

And then in the Reserves clash, there was only three goals scored between the two teams for the game with Swan Districts ending up beating South Fremantle by seven points.

South Fremantle's lone goal came courtesy of Nakita Little while Breanne Spencer, Tash Vaughan-Taylor, Tina Waddell and Tahlia Dawson-Gibbs were among the best players for the game.

It's Round 8 in the WAFLW competition this weekend and for South Fremantle that sees the League team take on Peel Thunder at Pingelly Oval on Saturday from 12.10pm.

Meanwhile, South Fremantle's Reserves will play Subiaco at Leederville Oval on Sunday from 2pm after the Rogers Cup contest between the Bulldogs and Lions at the same venue from 12.05pm.
