RIO TINTO TALENT PATHWAY SCHOLARSHIP
The Rio Tinto Indigenous Youth Scholarship "Welcome Event" took place at Optus Stadium on Thursday March 23rd, and South Fremantle had two recipients of the scholarship for 2023.
We warmly congratulate Tama Oakley and Tiara Hodgson were selected from our Club to receive the award. By being selected the two will be connected with an Indigenous mentor, offered 3 education sessions throughout 2023 and given $5,000.
The money is to assist with any football or education needs during the year. This includes helping them connect with family and attend training/game day requirements.
Players and their families were invited along with representatives from 8 WAFL clubs and the WAFC to attend the specal evening, during which players were presented with their scholarships. There was also an address from both WAFC Indigenous Officer Phil Narkle and CEO Michael Roberts.
Both applicants were selected due to their commitment to the Colts and Rogers Cup programs respectively, along with their ability and future football and educational goals.
Unfortunately Tiara couldn't be there on the night, but her grandmother Nancy accepted on her behalf.
We wish both Tama and Tiara the best in Season 2023!
