VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH

Thursday, August 1, 2024 - 9:06 AM

The South Fremantle Football Club (SFFC) recognises the great contribution our clubs and club volunteers make within our Metro and Country zones. Football clubs simply don't exist without the countless hours volunteers, coaches, team managers, board members, canteen staff, etc put in.

The Volunteer of the Month program is an opportunity to recognise individuals that have gone above and beyond in their roles within community football clubs zoned to SFFC.

SFFC will announce a monthly winner between April and August. The winners will receive an SFFC store voucher, game day passes, and an invite for them and a guest to attend a President’s Function.

April - Rob Semple | Kwinana Knights Junior Football Club

‘I am delighted to announce our first volunteer of the month (April) is the ever reliable and hardworking Rob Semple from the Kwinana Knights Junior Football Club’ Head of Football Charlie Burke said.

‘What really stood out to the selection committee was the amount of work Rob does for the club such as coaching one of the junior team’s, coaches Auskick on Sunday, cooks the BBQ, helps run the canteen, attends every meeting possible to promote the club and has time for all involved’ Burke said.

‘It was an honour to meet and present Rob with his volunteer of the month award and to see his passion and enthusiasm for football and the Kwinana Knights’.

June - Teagan Hammond | Hammond Park Football Club

Teagan started as a Board Member earlier this year and has excelled in her role. She has had an enormous impact on developing the club and assisting in the smooth running. Teagan put in countless hours before the season started and continues with a hard work ethic.

Well done Teagan.

July - Matt Slater | Bibra Lake Junior Football Club

Matt took on the President role at Bibra Lake as well as coach, coordinator, sponsorships, and everything in between! During pre-season Matt worked tirelessly to build Bibra Lakes numbers which included the promotion of female players. His role within sponsorship has been immense, allowing them to give back to those involved and within the community.

Congratulations Matt.

August - Michael Collins | Mundijong Central Football Club

Michael is a coach at Mundijong who is a positive role model for all kids. He started with the group in year 3 and now the team in year 6, is still with them! Michael demonstrates a very positive mood and has yet to miss a game. He has a lot of respect for the club and players, as do the players for him.

A great achievement Michael.

We look forward to building on the success of the volunteer of the month program in 2025 and thank all our community clubs for their commitment to football and the community.

Big thanks to all those that sent in nominations, we received over fifty nominations in our first season of running this program.
