CEO UPDATE

Thursday, September 26, 2024 - 1:19 PM

To our valued members, partners and stakeholders,

With our football year now drawn to a close, it’s often a time to reflect on the highs and lows and the considerable demands that a modern football season places upon all six (6) of our South Fremantle teams that compete for points annually.

2024 will forever be characterised by some tremendous highs and, sadly, several devastating lows. We were challenged often, and it was our actions in adversity that I firmly believe sets our culture apart.

Whilst finishing sixth in both the WAFL and WAFLW competitions was below our (and I’m sure your) expectations in 2024, we have learnt plenty and are committed to improvement.

Rest assured, we work exceedingly hard off field to be financially capable of investing in our football pathways, programs and people to win premierships. It’s our unflinching objective.

NEW FOOTBALL LEADERSHIP

We are in the unique position of welcoming new Senior Coaches in both our WAFL and WAFLW teams. Craig White and Pia Faletti both have stellar coaching credentials and have made a big impact already in their relatively short respective tenures. They are all in.

They bring very high standards to our Club, and an attacking style of footy with plenty of flair. It’s an exciting period ahead for all Bulldog people as we embark upon a new era.

A TALENT FOCUS

We are steadfast in our belief that we must focus our efforts on developing and retaining our own talent, balanced with attracting marquee ability that will make us more professional, and competitive.

There are several key recruitment targets across our male and female football programs, and just recently, it has been tremendous to welcome dominant ruckman Hamish Free back from his time at North Melbourne, along with live wire Jamaine Jones from the West Coast Eagles. We look forward to announcing further recruits, across both programs, in the near future.

2025 MEMBERSHIP | MARK OUR TERRITORY

Our new Membership year commences from November 1, always a busy and important time for the Club but most certainly given 2025 will be our 125-year celebration! Our members remain focal to our club and making you proud is paramount. We are so grateful to have the largest membership in the WAFL – let’s continue to “mark our territory”.

In-line with rising costs in our operating model, there will need to be a small price increase on a selection of membership categories, however, we have a special offer for our loyal members who are signed up to our Annual Renewal program.

Special Annual Renewal Offer:
All those who are signed up to annual renewal will avoid any price increases on their 2025 Membership. Simply “Opt-In” to annual renewal by October 31st to freeze your 2024 pricing for 2025, and we will do the rest.

GROWTH & OPPORTUNITY

Our corporate partnership program continues to set new benchmarks, with this loyal support growing annually. High quality brands & organisations are continuing to showcase their belief in us, and in turn, we are committed to providing fun, value and engagement – the WAFL footy experience. We are increasingly encouraged by the prospect of Fremantle Oval redevelopment, delivering generational outcomes for all Souths people.

An improved precinct will deliver improved fan and patron amenities and state-of-the-art high-performance football facilities catering for both our male and female programs. Furthermore, new and comprehensive community & commercial aspects will deliver a rounded build outcome and a sustainable model for future football success.

Enjoy AFL Grand Final weekend, and what promises to be a sensational game.
if you’re a neural fan looking for a cause, be sure to barrack aloud for Callum Ah Chee, guernsey #4 for the Brisbane Lions. A former South Fremantle junior from a proud Bulldog family.

As always, we are grateful for your support.
