RED & WHITE ARCHIVES: BIRTH OF THE BULLDOGS

Tuesday, February 4, 2025 - 3:29 PM

The South Fremantle Football Club was born out of change. When the Fremantle Football Club folded in 1900, a group of passionate football supporters ensured the game remained strong in the port city.

On April 20 of that year, at the Club Hotel on High Street, South Fremantle was officially formed and joined the West Australian Football Association alongside just three other clubs—East Fremantle, Perth, and West Perth.

The club made an immediate impact, finishing as runners-up in its debut season. However, the early years were a challenge, with inconsistent performances testing the team. Despite this, South Fremantle’s foundations were set, paving the way for 125 years of resilience, passion, and success.
