2025 LEADERSHIP GROUP ANNOUNCED

Tuesday, March 11, 2025 - 11:29 AM

South Fremantle is thrilled to announce the 2025 leadership group, with Chad Pearson leading the Bulldogs for a second consecutive season. After a year of impressive growth in his leadership role, Pearson will once again captain the side, providing stability and direction as the club looks to build on last season.

Head of Football Charlie Burke commended Pearson’s leadership journey, stating:

“Chad has been earmarked as a potential senior captain over the last few seasons, but his growth in the role over the last twelve months has been exceptional. The confidence he has in his ability as a leader and the way he connects with the entire player group is impressive. I have no doubt he will continue to grow in the role with the support of experienced figures like Craig White, Glenn Stewart, and his fellow leaders.”

Joining Pearson in the leadership group are new recruits Trey Ruscoe and Ethan Hughes, who have made an immediate impact at the Kennel. Despite only arriving late last year, both have displayed exceptional professionalism and leadership qualities, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike.

Burke spoke highly of their contributions:

“Ethan Hughes has been the ultimate professional since walking through the doors. He leads by example but also goes out of his way to make others better, which is a terrific trait to have as a leader. Trey Ruscoe has been in leadership positions before, and it’s easy to forget he is only twenty-three. His energy, competitiveness, and character are infectious, making him incredibly popular with the group.”

Also earning a place in the leadership group is returning Bulldog Hamish Free, who has made an immediate impact after two years at North Melbourne. Free’s relentless work ethic and high standards have set the tone for those around him, and his selection is a testament to the respect he has earned from his peers.

“Hamish has really set the standards since coming back to the club,” Burke added. “I have no doubt that he will make a big impact this season both on and off the field because he just strives to be better at every opportunity.”

Guiding and supporting the leadership group will be Glenn Stewart, who continues in his role as leadership consultant. Stewart’s mentorship has been invaluable in shaping the club’s emerging leaders and ensuring a strong foundation for the playing group.

With a blend of experience, fresh energy, and a strong connection to the Bulldogs' culture, South Fremantle’s leadership group is set to guide the team through an exciting 2025 season.
