Bulldogs fixture for 2014 WAFL season

Saturday, December 21, 2013 - 5:55 PM

FRIDAY night WAFL football returns to Fremantle Oval in a big way in 2014 with four games scheduled at the beginning and finish of the upcoming season.

The first Friday night game of 2014 at Fremantle Oval will take place in Round 2 when South Fremantle hosts Perth before the following Friday it will be last season's grand finalists East Perth taking on the Bulldogs under lights at the port.
Then the last two rounds of the season sees South Fremantle host Subiaco and Peel Thunder in Friday night fixtures at Fremantle Oval. The four night matches will all bounce down at 6.20pm.
The Bulldogs' 2014 season will see them face off with East Fremantle three times as usual as well as Peel Thunder, Subiaco and Swan Districts while playing Claremont, East Perth, Perth and reigning premiers West Perth just the twice.
South Fremantle's 2014 campaign begins with a twilight fixture at Leederville's Medibank Stadium in Round 1 against Subiaco on Saturday March 22 with bounce down set for 4.15pm.
Then following the back-to-back night games against the Demons and Royals in Rounds 2 and 3, the Bulldogs hit the road to take on Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval, West Perth at Arena Joondalup and then East Fremantle in the now annual Anzac Day clash at East Fremantle Oval.
South Fremantle is then home for a week to host Claremont in Round 7 prior to a Round 8 bye and then Round 9 clash in Mandurah against Peel Thunder before another break due to the state game against the NEAFL to be played in Sydney on Saturday May 24.
The Bulldogs' stop-start run then continues following the state game with the Foundation Derby against East Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Monday June 2 before another bye.
That means that between Rounds 8 and 11, South Fremantle will play two games, have two byes and the week off for the state game.
Things settle down after that, though, with five straight matches between Rounds 12 and 16 that sees South Fremantle take on East Perth at Medibank Stadium, host Swan Districts, host West Perth, face Claremont at the Showgrounds and take on Perth at Lathlain Park.
Following the Round 17 bye, the Bulldogs host Subiaco, face East Fremantle for the final time of the season at East Fremantle Oval, host Peel, travel to Bassendean to play Swans and then finish with the two night games against Subiaco and Peel at Fremantle Oval.
