Curley refreshed, energised to return to coaching ranks with Bulldogs

Thursday, September 11, 2014 - 8:55 PM - by Chris Pike

NEW South Fremantle coach Todd Curley feels refreshed after a break from top-level from football for the first time in 20 years and takes over at the Bulldogs having learned plenty with no doubt he will be an improved senior coach the second time around.

Curley made his WAFL debut with West Perth as a player back in 1991 and from that point up until the end of the 2005 season, played 266 senior matches made up of three with Collingwood, 115 with the Western Bulldogs and 148 with the Falcons.

He then went straight into taking over as senior coach at West Perth in 2006 immediately after playing and did well in that three-year stint making the finals in two of the three seasons, narrowly missing making a grand final and only just missed making the finals the other year.

Things haven’t completely gone the Bulldogs' colts way in 2014 with a combination of key players moving on, others being injured, State duties and then in the second half of the season a host of players moving up to play reserves and league football with South Fremantle.

Colts Report - Round 23

Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - 10:32 AM - by Arthur Maskos

Round 23 saw the best of the colts side for 2014. With most of the side playing together for the first time this year it was pleasing to see them perform as a side that belongs in the upcoming finals series. Most the players had the benefit of playing together previously last season and during their time on Warriors development duties. Red and WHITE – Craig White Column Round 23

Friday, August 29, 2014 - 1:26 AM - by Craig White

THERE is obviously a number of things I'm weighing up at the moment in regards to whether I play on or not next year. The way we are finishing the season with this momentum gives you a bit more motivation to think that something special might just be around the corner, and when you've been at the club for 10 or 11 years it is probably easy to go again.

I think the hard decision would be to pull the pin and I'm weighing up work commitments, wedding commitments and things like that next year off the field as well as my form, the new coach and what his vision is and what he sees my role being if he sees one for me at all. There's then also the pull from the playing group and not wanting to leave a young group who might not have enough leaders to guide them. Those are all the things I have to weigh up in the next few weeks.
