SOUTH Fremantle staged a spirited fight back either side of three quarter-time to close to within less than a goal of Peel at Fremantle Oval, but the Thunder proved too strong to end up winning by 30 points.
Peel did appear in control of the contest leading by 32 points midway through the third quarter, but the Bulldogs then went on a terrific run of five consecutive goals either side of three quarter-time to get to within five points.
South Fremantle had all the momentum at that stage, but Peel was able to steady and kick he last four goals of the game to win 14.13 (97) to 11.1 (67) to further secure themselves in third position on the ladder in preparation for a first ever finals appearance.

SOUTH Fremantle's fading finals hopes go on the line on Saturday against Peel at Fremantle Oval with the Thunder already looking safe in the top five, and looking to make a step towards earning a home final.
South Fremantle has now lost its last two games against East Perth and Subiaco since beating East Fremantle to now fall outside of the top five, and with a poor percentage, the Bulldogs will likely need to win their remaining three matches to remain a chance to play finals.
South Fremantle is currently just percentage behind the fifth place Claremont but with a bye to come next week, the Bulldogs only have three games to go so beating Peel this Saturday, West Perth in Round 22 and then the Thunder again in Round 23 will be needed if finals are to eventuate.

THREE key South Fremantle players are currently battling shoulder problems with one ruled out for the remainder of the season, another a chance to return this Saturday against Peel Thunder and the third an outside prospect of still playing after hurting it late last week against Subiaco.
Two State representatives from this year and two of South Fremantle's most important players Blayne Wilson and Ryan Cook both missed last Saturday's 44-point loss to Subiaco at Medibank Stadium while dual premiership veteran Craig White hurt his shoulder late in the contest.
Wilson has been determined to require shoulder surgery so his terrific first season with the Bulldogs is now over but captain Cook is a chance to return this Saturday against Peel Thunder at Fremantle Oval.

SOUTH Fremantle put in a brave effort for three quarters against raging premiership favourites Subiaco on Saturday at Medibank Stadium, but the Lions overwhelmed the Bulldogs in the finish to win by 44 points.
South Fremantle was coming off a horror 106-point defeat to East Perth at Fremantle Oval while Subiaco was in ominous form beating Perth by 133 points that same Saturday.
However, the Bulldogs came out playing a committed, disciplined and physical brand of football on Saturday to take it right up to the Lions, but in the end the home team kicked seven goals to one in the final quarter to win 16.8 (104) to 9.6 (60).

SOUTH Fremantle heads to Medibank Stadium needing to knock off the raging premiership favourites Subiaco to keep its finals hopes alive in 2015 and to celebrate Ashton Hams' 150th WAFL game.
Subiaco remained three games clear on top of the WAFL ladder with the biggest win of the season to the tune of 133 points last Saturday against Perth with the Lions gearing up nicely for a crack at back-to-back premierships.

HAIDEN Schloithe always wanted to play WAFL football for South Fremantle alongside Ashton and Kyle Hams looking up to them as a youngster in Katanning, and now he's looking forward to being there on Saturday for Ashton's 150th game for the Bulldogs.
Schloithe and the Hams twins all have made the move from Katanning to come to Perth and play WAFL football with South Fremantle, but given the seven-year age gap Ashton and Kyle were always two players that Schloithe wanted to emulate one day, and play with at the Bulldogs.
Now in 2015 it's the first chance for the trio to play together with Kyle returning to the Bulldogs for the first time since 2010 while both Ashton and Schloithe have remained committed to South Fremantle after spending time at West Coast and Fremantle in the AFL respectively.

SOUTH Fremantle coach Todd Curley has enjoyed his chance to coach Ashton Hams this season ahead of his 150th game and wouldn’t be surprised to see him add to his individual accolades, but for now the focus for the Bulldogs is on plotting the downfall of Subiaco.
Hams will add another notch to an already remarkably decorated career this Saturday at Medibank Stadium when South Fremantle enters the clash needing to beat the rampant league-leading reigning premiers Subiaco to remain in the race to play finals for the first time since 2011.
The 28-year-old will earn life membership at South Fremantle by playing his 150th game as part of a career that has seen him play in the 2005 and 2009 premierships, and win a grand final and State game Simpson Medal on top of his 39 AFL matches with the West Coast Eagles.
