IT has been hard over the last couple of weeks to keep this Sunday's grand final out of your mind. Any grand final is an exciting time to be part of and this is always the time of year you want to be playing footy. With the week off that we earned last week it kind of magnifies things, and it really gets you going and excited for what's to come.

We set ourselves for a big game against Subiaco in the second semi-final and Wilbur has been onto us through the whole finals series about keeping things similar, and keeping our attitude right. When that attitude is right, the effort is naturally there and we set ourselves for a big one two weeks ago, and we ended up with 23 contributors in a strong team effort to make the grand final. You only have to look at the statistics from the game and apart from maybe Colly and Bewy, most of the other blokes shared the load which was good.

SOUTH Fremantle hasn’t had a Sandover Medal winner since Toby McGrath back in the premiership year of 2005 but that could very well change this Monday night with Ashton Hams one of the hot favourites.

Hams has continued to put together one of the great modern careers of a South Fremantle footballer and if he's able to add a Sandover Medal to his growing resume, then it will only serve to add to his growing reputation.

The 29-year-old has already played in two premierships with South Fremantle, is a grand final and state game Simpson Medal winner, has played for WA twice and is a life member of the Bulldogs having reached his 150-game milestone late in the 2015 season.

SOUTH Fremantle's reserves have been the dominant team right throughout the 2015 WAFL season and are now one win away from a second premiership in three years following a 47-point second semi-final win over Subiaco on Sunday.

South Fremantle's reserves finished the home and away season four games clear on top of the ladder as minor premiers to earn the bye in the first week of the finals as Subiaco beat Swan Districts in the qualifying final to set up Sunday's second semi-final at Medibank Stadium.

And it was the Bulldogs who dominated from the outset kicking the only six goals of the first quarter and then they were never really challenged the rest of the afternoon cruising to the 14.17 (101) to 7.12 (54) victory.

SOUTH Fremantle looks to continue its dominant season in the reserves by moving straight through to the grand final but standing in the way is a Subiaco team in the second semi-final strengthened by players still hoping for a league opportunity and with home ground advantage.

The game will begin proceedings on Sunday at Medibank Stadium with South Fremantle looking for an eighth straight win to try and win a second reserves premiership in three years, but Subiaco just missed out on a flag last year and will be looking to go one better this year.

Subiaco moved into the second semi-final by winning a thriller over Swan Districts last Sunday and now the winner between the Bulldogs and Lions will be straight into the grand final while the loser will take on either Swan Districts or West Perth in the preliminary final.

THE only thing giving South Fremantle reserves coach Tony Walters headaches heading into Sunday's second semi-final against Subiaco is how to fit more than 30 capable and qualified players into the Bulldogs' team to play at Medibank Stadium.

South Fremantle's reserves dominated the 2015 home and away season winning 18 of 20 matches to be four games clear on top to claim the minor premiership, and then earn the week off in the first week of the finals before beginning the quest for a second flag in three years.

With South Fremantle's league side missing finals for a fourth straight season, that means that the likes of Jacob Dragovich, Mitch Carter, James Laurino, Josh Branchi, Zac Strom, Tim Stewart, Kade Stewart and Matthew Ah Siu return for the reserves after finishing the season in the senior side.

THIS year hasn’t been the greatest for myself personally. I've had a few challenges to go through and it's come to the pointy end of the season now where I've hit some form, but unfortunately the league boys aren’t in the finals.

I'm just putting all my concentration now into the finals series with the twos. Everyone goes through a tough year from time to time, but you just have to deal with it and push on from it.

I reckon my last three or four games in the twos had been really solid and I put some good numbers up, played some good footy and my defensive side was really good as well. If the league team was still alive I'd like to think I'd be knocking on the door to get a game by now, and if I got selected or not that would be up to the match committee.

SOUTH Fremantle might have lost its last game of the WAFL season against Peel Thunder but it was an exciting look into the future with a host of young players standing up and it was also a day to remember for Katanning with six players from the town playing for the Bulldogs.

South Fremantle has long been touted as the 'Premier Family Club' in the WAFL and that has again been evident on the field throughout the 2015 season with the number of brothers playing together.

The obvious is dual premiership winning twins Kyle and Ashton Hams who both had outstanding seasons playing together for the first time since 2010.

IT was a familiar story for South Fremantle in 2015 in the final game of the season against Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium with the Bulldogs blooding another debutant and having some momentum early in the last quarter but ending up overrun to lose by 39 points.

South Fremantle had fallen out of finals contention despite an overall improved 2015 season, but the Bulldogs took on the finals bound Peel in Mandurah and with the first two goals of the last quarter had some momentum.

However, once again South Fremantle couldn’t maintain that intensity and Peel ended up kicking the last five goals of the game to record the 16.12 (108) to 9.15 (69) victory.

SOUTH Fremantle will unveil yet another debutant to have two sets of brothers and six players from Katanning in the team to take on Peel Thunder to close the 2015 WAFL season at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Peel Thunder can secure third position and a finals double chance by beating South Fremantle for a third time season in the Round 23 clash at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Peel has now won five of its last six matches to have guaranteed its place in the finals for the first time in the club's history since entering the WAFL in 1997, and now the Thunder can secure third position with a win over the Bulldogs on Saturday.
