COACH POST MATCH - TODD CURLEY ROUND 3

Thursday, August 6, 2020 - 8:20 AM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle coach Todd Curley offered his thoughts on his team's WAFL Round 3 win against Claremont on Saturday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval as the Bulldogs remain unbeaten to start 2020 ahead of this Saturday's clash with Subiaco at Leederville Oval.

QUESTION: It wasn’t the prettiest game once again, but you come away with the four points against a team that was also undefeated and you were in control for most of it?
ANSWER:
It was a challenge. Obviously they had been going pretty well and there was a lot of numbers behind the ball which makes it a challenge for us. But again I thought we missed some pretty easy chances early to get away, and then gave up a couple of soft ones the other way. Then late we did miss a couple of shots including one on three quarter-time where we just have to be better. But we found a way to win and we move on.

IT was a hard fought contest as expected but South Fremantle managed to maintain an edge the whole way to beat Claremont by eight points at Fremantle Community Bank Oval to continue the unbeaten start to 2020.

It also doubled as a rematch of last year's preliminary final which South Fremantle won to advance to the Grand Final, and once again the Bulldogs shook off a tenacious Tigers showing to win, 7.6 (48) to 5.10 (40).

PLAYER COLUMN – BROCK HIGGINS ROUND 3

Saturday, August 1, 2020 - 2:10 AM - by Brock Higgins

It would be fair to say it's been quite the interesting year for us all so far and from a football sense, I was in the best shape I've been in for years and we were looking great as a team back in March, but now here we are and it's amazing how quickly things feel back to normal.

Going back a few months, we had done the whole pre-season and everyone was fit, happy and healthy, and looking forward to the season. We had just played a scratch match against ourselves on a Friday night and the next week we were going to play the first of two proper pre-season games, and then it would be Round 1 so everything was ready to go.

So we played that Friday night scratch match and everyone was starting to whisper about how the season might get shutdown and everything. Then the next day we got the word that it had been so that was definitely interesting.

ROUND 3 PREVIEW V CLAREMONT

Friday, July 31, 2020 - 4:02 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle has started the 2020 WAFL Premiership Season in fine style but there's no question the biggest test for the Bulldogs yet will come this Saturday at the hands of Claremont.

South Fremantle is back home to play Claremont on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Community Bank Oval in a clash where the two teams come in having won their opening two matches in 2020.

That means that the winner will race out to a 3-0 start and sit clear on top of the WAFL ladder and in the shortened season due to COVID-19, that would put them in a tremendous spot to lay a claim to a place in the finals.
